DOCUMENTARY FEATURE

YOU’LL NEVER KNOW ME

MORE THAN AN ARTIST. MORE THAN THE MUSIC. You’ll Never Know Me takes a closer look at Brandon Dudley — Lee Bangah — beyond the stage, exploring fatherhood, family, his Charlottesville roots, and the years he spent documenting his journey before realizing he was capturing his own story. From discovering his passion for music as a kid to becoming the first hip-hop artist to have a documentary premiere at Charlottesville’s Violet Crown Theater, the film reveals a side of Lee Bangah that the music alone can’t show.

RAW STORYTELLING

VINEGAR HILL: MUSIC WITH SOMETHING TO SAY

Charlottesville artist Lee Bangah turned the camera toward one of the city’s most important pieces of Black history with a music video centered on Vinegar Hill — the once-thriving African-American neighborhood that was demolished during Charlottesville’s urban renewal era in the 1950s and 1960s. The visual connects hip-hop with local history, bringing attention back to a community filled with Black families, businesses, and culture before redevelopment changed the neighborhood forever. For Lee Bangah, the project goes deeper than just another music video. It puts Charlottesville’s past in front of a new generation and uses the music to keep a piece of the city’s history from being forgotten. THIS IS BIGGER THAN A VIDEO. IT’S CHARLOTTESVILLE HISTORY THROUGH A HIP-HOP LENS. WATCH THE VINEGAR HILL VIDEO
